Marceline the Vampire Queen is a prominent character in the animated television series Adventure Time. Born Marceline Abadeer over a millennium ago, she is a half-demon, half-human vampire who rules the Nightosphere. Her human mother was named Elise and her demon father is Hunson Abadeer, who is the ruler of the Nightosphere.

Marceline's long life has shaped her into a complex and multifaceted individual. While outwardly appearing as a rebellious and sometimes aloof figure, she harbors deep-seated emotional vulnerabilities stemming from her childhood abandonment and prolonged existence. She often uses sarcasm and wit as defense mechanisms.

Her primary powers stem from her vampirism, granting her immortality, shapeshifting abilities, and the power to absorb the color red from objects. However, in later seasons, she relinquishes her vampirism, opting for mortality and embracing her human side. Marceline is a talented musician, often playing her electric bass guitar, which she crafted from her family's battle-axe.

Throughout the series, Marceline forms significant relationships with other characters, most notably Finn Mertens, Jake the Dog, Princess Bubblegum, and Simon Petrikov, who acted as a father figure to her during her youth after the Mushroom War.
